ABOUT THE WORK

This work was included in the "Postcards from Paradise" juried group exhibition at Voss Gallery (May 26 - July 1, 2023).

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ben forwent the model of graduating from a university at a young age and getting a job. This is something he often ponders over and thinks to regret. However, instead of taking that journey, he took a leap of faith to beget a reconnection to his anima, a Jungian term for the feminine part of a man’s personality. This part of himself judged him to be an artist. Ben didn’t want to be an artist and instead wanted to be a manly man. This didn’t go well for Ben and he ended up on the streets with a plethora of problems. After the problems became insurmountable, he realized what he must do. He stood at community college with no artistic background at twenty-eight years old and by all estimations was a numbskull and blockhead. Today he is thirty-four and has a studio practice in Sausalito where he works and sells his art. Though his desire to be a manly man often reappears, he knows that he is on a different path.

HANGING & CARE

Artwork is ready to hang on the wall; hanging wire is secured on the back (nail and hook needed). Dust raw canvas with a clean, soft brush and HEPA-filtered vacuum to clean. Using a new, clean brush prevents transfer of grime from previous dustings.
